Why a teacher should design your child’s playroom/bedroom

What sets us apart at Little Kingdoms? We practice interior design from an educator’s perspective! We use our masters in Learning, Developmental and Family Sciences and preschool teaching experience to create playrooms and bedrooms where children can flourish.

We went to school for this

All those hours spent in infant, toddler, early childhood and adolescent development classes add up! We know the stages and milestones, and we know how to target cognitive, physical, and social emotional development with our designs and toy selection.

We have hands-on experience teaching preschool

We know how to choose materials based on YOUR unique child’s interests, strengths, and areas for growth. At school, we called this integrated curriculum. We would identify what our students were already curious about, and set up learning experiences for them to continue their research. They learned fundamental STEAM, pre-literacy, and social-emotional skills through these activities.

We set up organizational systems that work

We know which systems facilitate child-led tidying and which systems interfere with it (this is a biggie). We make sure that the room looks good and also functions ~smoothly~ The goal is for children to be able to access AND put away materials on their own.

Moral of the story

Young children only spend half of their day at preschool (if that!), yet between the ages of 0-5 every moment is a learning opportunity- a chance to make sense of the world around them. We believe home play environments can, and should be, just as developmentally stimulating as school, so your child can continue growing all day. We created our company to fill the gap between the thoughtfully curated spaces at school and the often chaotic and lackluster playrooms at home. And the best part? While school is catered to the interests of many children, your home can be tailored specifically to your child. Click the link below to kick off designing your one-of-a-kind space!
