Wassily Kandinsky
Artist Inspiration: Wassily Kandinsky
Wassily Kandinksy was born in Moscow, Russia on December 16, 1986 - our oldest artist of the session! We talked about his abstract style and how he worked with both organic shapes and wavy lines, as well as more geometric concepts. We used one of Kandinsky's most famous pieces, Concentric Circles, as inspiration for our own abstract art and used watered down acrylic paint.
This was a playful week in Mini Met! Everyone’s paintings varied in color palettes and size. Some tried to mimic the inspiration exactly by creating a grid of circles. Other children used the idea of “abstract art” as their main inspiration. They enjoyed comparing and contrasting their work as well! We’ve noticed that this class is so encouraging of one another and always very interested to see what their friends create. We’ll let these dry and send them home next week.
