Welcome to Play Outside the Box

We’re so glad your children are joining us for our “Play Outside the Box” course this spring! In this class we’ll highlight the value of unconventional materials. Together we will watch everyday items like cardboard, plastic, tape and paper become the foundation for incredibly rich and creative play.

Tune in here every week for a behind the scenes look at “POTB”

Play Outside The Box!

Meet Claire

This is our second semester teaching at St. Matthews and I’m so excited to be here! As Lily and I have grown our playroom design company, it has been so impactful to be around your children. The voice of the child is at the heart of every space we create, so the opportunity to observe your children’s passions, struggles and collaborations has been priceless. I can’t wait to watch your kiddos Play Outside the Box!

Meet Lily

I have my Masters in Learning, Developmental, and Family Sciences and have taught ages zero to five in Reggio Emilia preschools. It was in these settings I saw children use open-ended materials so creatively! Claire and I built a curriculum around this idea and this will be our first time teaching it at St. Matthews! I can’t wait to be impressed and inspired by your children this spring :)

Testimonial from a “Play Outside The Box” summer class:

“I don’t know why I thought a craft had to be complicated. I spend so much time trying to set up a craft for my kids and they lose interest after 10 minutes. We did a craft with Little Kingdoms - using random recycled goods, some clay, and googley eyes and my kids spent nearly an hour playing! I’m so encouraged by LK ideas and how well it enhances my kids’ creativity!”
