2025 Interior Design Trends & How to Add Them to Your Playroom

We are LOVING what’s in for 2025. These trends just so happen to be very in line with our personal preferences (isn’t that lucky?!). While we always prioritize continuity with the rest of the home’s interior design style (whether it’s modern, art deco or coastal, we’ll match it!) and longevity, all of the trends below are great ways to up the whimsy and dare I say, joy, in the most playful room of the home. Going to incorporate these in our next playroom ASAP!

Pattern Drenching

Color drenching has been in for a while (painting the walls, ceiling, trim and door all the same paint color in a room), but now pattern drenching is hot on the scene too! Pattern drenching is the practice of mixing a lot of different patterns or using one pattern multiple times in a room (headboard, curtains, wallpaper, etc). If you read our Firsthand Fun Playroom (The Design Details) post you know we are all for pattern play. So to hear the more the merrier? Yes please.

Details on Cabinetry

We were big fans of built-in cabinets already, but they just got even cuter! Cabinets are an elevated way to hide toys and keep clutter at bay. Whether you choose detailed millwork, intricately painted designs or cane webbing, your storage will be taken to the next level.

Drapery Everywhere

Drapery isn’t just for windows! It can be used to create a cozy reading nook, add some privacy to bunk beds, frame the stage for dramatic play performances or up the cuteness on a cabinet. Bonus points if you use an adorable patterned fabric!

Limewash

This trend has been hot the last few years, but is still such a cool way to add a textured look to your walls. Plus, it’s environmentally friendly, non-toxic and mold/bacteria resistant! I’ve never seen this done in a playroom, but think it would be great for a family with an earthy, coastal or Spanish aesthetic in their home.
