Dino-mite Playroom
When there’s no sign of your son’s dino phase ending, lean into it!! That’s exactly what we did in this open concept playroom for a sweet two-year-old boy! This bonus room is right off the family’s kitchen, making it the perfect place for him to play while his parents cook nearby!

Dino Shelves
All things BLUE 🩵
We wanted the room to feel colorful and playful, but still neutral enough to fit in with the rest of the first floor’s design. We mixed various shades of blue with light woods, leather and rattan for a cozy, boyish atmosphere. The main blue elements?
Couch- Custom made in a light blue velvet, it’s nice and deep for every day seating + doubles as a bed when guests are in town!
Wallpaper- This wiggle pattern is so fun! We put it on the wall that was hidden from view when you walk in the front door, making for a cute surprise once you enter the space.
Gallery Wall- We varied the blues on the wall to create a beachy California feel
Reading Nook
We thought he’d enjoy a comfy little area to “sneak away” with a good book (somewhere mom and dad could still know exactly where he is 😉). A canopy was the perfect option! We added a blue gingham puff inside for seating and front facing shelves to the left for easy access!
Toddler Art Corner
An atelier for a two-year-old is going to look a bit different than, say, for a 10-year-old. Here’s what we had in mind as we set up this corner:
Easy to grasp materials- Crayola markers and Stabilos are great for this. Stabilos are wooden crayons that are hard to break and easy for a child developing fine motor skills to navigate.
Drawing board- Supports autonomy as a child can walk up and color at their leisure. Make sure you pull fresh paper down regularly if they can’t reach it yet!
Art Cart- Can be rolled inside or outside, making it easy to transport all of your art materials wherever you want to create.
Concealed Toy Storage
Since this space was doubling as a family room and playroom, it was a top priority for toys to be stored out of sight. We did this by scattering them across the room- easy to grab materials like train tracks and small world supplies were put in the coffee table drawers, labeled baskets were kept in the media console and wooden blocks were disguised in the side table!
Toy Highlights!
In addition to organizing a family’s existing toys, we also make recommendations to fill gaps in lacking play categories. We knew their son was loving dinosaur play, so wanted to expand that interest by offering small world materials. We introduced wood slices, trunks, turf and playsilks so he could build sets and environments for his animals, figurines and dinos to romp around.

We love this brand SO MUCH. They have the best collection of open-ended toys. We have loved their original set in pastel for a while, but were able to gift our clients two Grows (see the atelier seating below!). We also adore their infant play mat because it doubles as a workout mat for parents! On top of all that, everything is non-toxic!! YES YES YES!
