Harvest Home Infant Space Project
We just completed a small project for the infant space in Harvest Home’s community room! Harvest Home is a nonprofit in Los Angeles that transforms the lives of homeless pregnant women and their children by providing housing, support, and programs that equip women to become great mothers.
Harvest Home has two homes with 28 beds where moms are able to stay for six months postpartum. There is a community area for classes and groups, and we were delighted to work with them in refreshing their infant space! The goal was to make it a little more aesthetic, organized, and developmentally stimulating for the infants and moms who use it.
Toddlekind sent a playmat that laid a safe and aesthetic foundation for the rest of the space! Their Premium Foam Playmat is perfect for the little infants getting their tummy time reps in.
Mustard Made donated several baskets so we could stylishly organize the books and toys in the space! The baskets came in several different colors and fit perfectly in our little cubbies.
Growgo sent several Montessori 3 in 1 Baby Mirrors for us to include in the space. Like the name suggests, it can be positioned three different ways so it grows with the child and offers challenge from infancy through toddlerhood.
Neinhuis Montessori sent puzzles and shakers for infants and toddlers. We’d never seen a game like this one, but two shakers make the same noise and the pair is indicated by the colored dot on the top. Definitely a fun and different sensory experience that’s safe for infants.
Kodo Kids sent us SO many amazing toys! They donated several different block sets featuring planets, dinosaurs, and signs, as well as, loose parts, threading activities and a ball ramp! They’re based out of Broomfield, CO, so as Boulder girls we always love working with them :)
Genius Babies donated some Baby Play Gym and Activity Mats. The high contrast black and white prints are helpful for young infants developing their vision.
It was such a pleasure refreshing this community space for these families! If you live in Los Angeles and are looking to get involved there are lots of monthly volunteer opportunities. You can find a list of specific items they accept here, and they’ll always accept monetary donations.
