Faith Ringgold Quilt Art
Artist Inspiration: Faith Ringgold
This week in Mini Met we talked about Faith Ringgold’s fiber art! She was born on October 8, 1930 in Harlem and worked with lots of different mediums. We used fabric and oil pastels to mimic the aesthetic she uses in her story quilts.
This was a mixed media project! The children selected some precut triangles and arranged them around the border of their cardstock. It was a bit of a puzzle, but they all turned out so stunning and unique! After that, we encouraged them to create family portraits with oil pastels in the center because Faith Ringgold’s work often featured the vibrant communities she was apart of. Some drew figures, others drew other things :) Enjoy some photos below!
