Wassily Kandinsky

Artist Inspiration: Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinksy was born in Moscow, Russia on December 16, 1986 - our oldest artist of the session! We talked about his abstract style and how his preference for organic shapes and wavy lines evolved into more geometric pieces later on. We mimicked one of Kandinsky's most famous pieces, Concentric Circles, using watered down acrylic paint.

This was a playful week in Mini Met! Everyone’s paintings varied in color palettes and size. Some tried to mimic the inspiration exactly by creating a 3x4 configuration of circles. Other children made more, and others made less. They enjoyed comparing and contrasting their work as well! We’ve noticed that this class is so encouraging of one another and always very interested to see what their friends create. We’ll let these dry and send them home next week. Check out some of their creations below!
