Stencils & Tracing

This week in Play Outside the Box we had stencils of many different shapes available- butterflies, flowers, trains, shamrocks (for a late St. Patrick’s Day celebration)- the works! Everybody traced their stencil and then some chose to cut them out while others drew around them or applied tape decoratively. We loved seeing the process and hard work that went into these tasks and the finished products!

Our activity yesterday helped us hone several different skills:

  1. Mark-making and tracing specifically

  2. Using scissors

  3. Ripping/cutting tape

  4. Applying tape

Since beginning the class, we’ve seen IMMENSE progress with ripping, cutting, and sticking tape! We also saw tons of growth today with scissors. Some children used to ask for support with the whole process, now almost all of them seem to be able to find a solution on their own!
