Firsthand Fun Playroom (The Play Details Part 2!)

We loved this project so much we couldn’t fit everything into one blog! Check out our Design Details post and Play Details Part 1 post if you haven’t read them yet. Now, let’s get to the final fun aspects of this adorable backhouse playroom!

Baby Doll Baskets

We love that these rattan baskets double as decor and storage! We put the lowest basket at child height so the family’s two-year-old could engage in baby doll play whenever she desired. The higher baskets created a sweet effect in the room and made the dolls feel like works of art. We love how it turned the small wall space by the door into a cozy nook.

Mini Library

We wanted to add a few more gold elements to the room, so loved the look and depth of these floating shelves. They fit perfectly on the slender wall between the window and sliding glass door- precious space we had to maximize! Floating shelves are an easy way to elevate any space and make books appealing and reachable. Blog post coming soon on common mistakes we see people make when setting up a playroom library!

Busy Board

Busy boards have become popular in recent years and for good reason! While they’re definitely not all created equally, with the right features they can be deeply engaging for children. Read our Busy Board blog post to learn which elements we prioritize including on custom boards!

Sequin Wall

We added two sequin boards on the doors of the cabinets. This is such a satisfying sensory experience for children as they watch the sequins flip to reveal a different color on the other side. They can make patterns and words by tracing their finger or simply feel the sequins move with their entire hand.

Kid's Art Frame

These golden frames were our final addition to the space. They open from the front, making it SO easy to switch out art whenever you please! It’s special for children to see their artwork displayed in a space, and the golden finishes make even scribbles look classy 😉

We loved working on this project and can’t wait to debut photos from our Manhattan project soon! Have a lovely day :)
